Protecting the Bicknell’s Thrush and Other Species Threatened by Climate ChangeOn behalf of the Center for Biological Diversity, student clinicians thoroughly researched the legal and scientific basis for listing the Bicknell's Thrush under the Endangered Species Act. Using this information, CBD recently filed a petition to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to list this and other species dependent upon mountaintop habitats from Hawaii to New Hampshire affected by climate change. Mountaintop species are particularly vulnerable to climate change because as the climate warms, they have nowhere to go. Bicknell's thrush is jeopardized by the loss of its native high-elevation forests due to warming, as well as acid rain damage to red spruce.
