2013 Graduates

Sophia Kruszewski

Sophia is a Policy Specialist at the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC). NSAC is an alliance of grassroots organizations that advocates for federal policy reform that supports small and mid-size family farms, protects natural resources, promotes healthy rural communities, and ensures access to healthy, nutritious foods for everyone. Sophia's work will primarily focus on conservation programs for working farmland, commodity payments and crop insurance reform, and climate change and energy issues.



Elena Mihaly

Beginning in October 2013, Elena will be a Legal Fellow at the Conservation Law Foundation in Boston. Her work at CLF will focus on the organization's "Sustainable Farm and Food System Initiative." Through this Initiative, CLF attorneys employ legal and policy strategies to further advance sustainable agriculture in Boston and greater New England.




Billy Peard

Billy Peard is an attorney with Georgia Legal Services within the Farmworker Rights Division. At Georgia Legal Services, he will be representing both immigrant farmworkers and U.S. workers who plant, weed, harvest, and pack the fruit and vegetable crops of Georgia. Georgia Legal Services primarily brings employment discrimination cases under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and minimum wage violations under the Fair Labor Standards Act.



Michelle Sinnott

Michelle is a fellow at Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal in Washington, D.C. Meyer Glitzenstein & Crystal represents clients in federal and state court litigation on a wide range of public interest issues, including Wildlife and Animal Protection and Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation. Michelle's work will primarily focus on environmental and animal law.




Elizabeth Spellman

Elizabeth accepted a position as Executive Director of the West Virginia Food & Farm Coalition, where she will be supporting a growing network of food enterprises and farms in West Virginia. The Coalition facilitates efforts to enhance local food economies, which includes helping viable food and farm businesses grow while improving access to healthy, locally-produced food.
