Rachel Goldwasser, JD '07 and MEM from the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies '07

Ms. Goldwasser is clerking for District Court Judge John Woodcock in Bangor, Maine. While at VLS, Ms. Goldwasser interned with the Maine Attorney General's Office and clerked with the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. She was also the recipient of the JW Saxe Fund scholarship for work in the public interest.

Caleb Holmes, JD/MSEL '07

Mr. Holmes is clerking for Chief Judge Anthony Scirica of the Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia. Mr. Holmes was a member of the Vermont Law Review, the National Moot Court Team, and is an outdoor enthusiast.

The Honorable Nancy E. Smith, JD '80

Justice Smith sits on the New York Supreme Court, Appellate Division, in Rochester, NY. She began her legal career as an Assistant District Attorney in Monroe County, spent a year in private practice, and then returned to the District Attorney’s Office from 1985 to 1992. She was elected to her first judicial office as a Monroe County Court Judge and took the bench in January, 1993. She was appointed by Governor George Pataki to the New York State Supreme Court in 1997. She serves on the Family Violence Task Force, is a member of the Board of Directors of the Legal Aid Society, and has served on the Boards of the Pittsford Youth Service, Inc., and the Greater Rochester Association of Women Attorneys.

The Honorable Thomas Durkin, JD '85

Judge Durkin is one of two judges on Vermont's Environmental Court. The Court hears appeals from municipal boards and commissions and also appeals from Act 250 decisions. Additionally, the Court hears Agency of Natural Resources, Natural Resource Board, and municipal enforcement cases.
