Marc Mihaly, one of the nation's leading environmental law attorneys, was named president and dean of Vermont Law School in 2012. He served as the acting associate dean of environmental programs and director of the Environmental Law Center in 2005-06 and then associate dean and director from 2007-12. Mihaly is an expert in the areas of land use, urban planning, and energy law and policy. Dean Mihaly received his BA degree from Harvard College and, after service in the Peace Corps, received his JD degree from Boalt Hall School of Law, University of California, Berkeley, where he was editor in chief of the Ecology Law Quarterly. He then served with the environmental unit of the California Attorney General's Office and with the San Mateo County Legal Aid Society. Professor Mihaly cofounded Shute, Mihaly and Weinberger (San Francisco) in 1980 and served as its managing partner for 17 years.

Inauguration Details for Delegates and Special Guests
We are delighted that you are planning to attend the inauguration of Marc B. Mihaly, the President and 8th Dean of Vermont Law School. The installation ceremony will take place on the South Royalton Green beginning at 3:00.
Departing from a more traditional ceremony, only members of the platform party will take part in the processional. All other honored guests may attend in business attire and be seated under the tent prior to the ceremony. No regalia is required. Members of the Vermont Law School staff will be at the tent entrance to seat guests. Special seating will be reserved for all delegates who will also be recognized in the print program. There will be an opportunity to greet the new Dean following the ceremony.
A reception will be held following the ceremony on the Vermont Law School campus in Chase Center and Yates Common Room.
Weather in Vermont at the end of October can be unpredictable. The ceremony is being held outside under a tent, rain or shine (or snow.) Please prepare accordingly.
