VLS to Host 13th Annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner
November 23, 2010
SOUTH ROYALTON, VT -- Vermont Law School expects to serve more than 350 meals at its 13th annual South Royalton Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday in the Chase Community Center. The event is free and open to the public. Take-out dinners will be available starting at 10:30 a.m. Sit-down dinners will start at 11:30 a.m.
Marilyn Labadie, associate director of Records and Registration, started the tradition in 1998 as a way to serve needy families, the elderly and others who want a nutritious holiday meal and fellowship. More than 300 dinners were served last Thanksgiving. Dozens of VLS and community volunteers are preparing turkeys, stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, squash, peas, carrots, cranberry sauce, pies and other fare.
"People think it's a wonderful idea," Labadie said, adding that most of the food is donated by area farms and businesses. "It's just amazing community support."
More information about volunteering, donating goods or attending the dinner is available from Labadie at 831-1251 or firstname.lastname@example.org
