VT Law Students to Hold Vigil Against Violence

April 7, 2011

SOUTH ROYALTON, VT -- Vermont Law School will host its annual Take Back the Night candlelight vigil at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14 on the South Royalton town green. The event, which is sponsored by Law Students for Reproductive Justice, is free and open to the public.Image of candlelight

The event is intended to recognize the prevalence of sexual and community assault, remember survivors and victims, break the silence and eradicate violence.

Take Back the Night events started in Europe in 1976 and have continued throughout the world as a sign of empowerment for women, men and children. Survivors and their advocates are encouraged to attend to speak out about sexual violence. Anonymously submitted comments will also be read aloud at the vigil by a member of Law Students for Reproductive Justice.
