Professor Cathryn “Cappy” Nunlist specializes in education, employment, and family law. The courses she has taught at Vermont Law School include Pre-trial Litigation/Employment Law, School Law, Women and the Law, Health Law, Lawyering, and Legal Writing.
Professor Nunlist received her BA degree from Brown University in 1970. After getting her three children started in school, she received her JD degree from Vermont Law School in 1990. From 1990 to 1991, she was a law clerk for the Windsor County, Vermont, Superior, District, and Family courts. She joined the White River Junction firm of Black, Black and Davis from 1991 to1993 when she became an assistant professor at Vermont Law School. In 1997, she became an associate with the firm of Stebbins, Bradley, Wood, and Harvey in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Professor Nunlist returned to VLS in 2001 as a part-time assistant professor and assistant director of the General Practice Program while continuing to practice at her Hanover firm. She has served on the Lebanon, New Hampshire, School Board and the boards of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Upper Valley, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England, New Hampshire Healthy Kids Corporation, Lebanon Opera House Improvement Corporation, and Upper Valley Teacher Institute.
