After an introduction to the political and legal system and cultural background of the largest greenhouse gas emitter in the world, we will survey the basic regulatory schemes managing air quality, water resources and quality, natural resources, environmental impact assessments, and pending legislation concerning waste management and energy conservation. If there is sufficient interest, we may offer an additional, optional, one-credit session in China immediately following the class, to let students experience firsthand the environmental conditions and lectures and meetings with leading Chinese environmental scholars and activists.  7440GP0|#4427383a-57bf-428f-9c22-73669c71e517;L0|#04427383a-57bf-428f-9c22-73669c71e517|Graduate;GTSet|#cbbd7cb7-f9db-41d7-8603-54518e246b51GP0|#1f619b75-4196-475c-9168-dbd500d3d001;L0|#01f619b75-4196-475c-9168-dbd500d3d001|International Law;GTSet|#f0004912-346b-4cda-81c5-04ab1bb4b34e;GPP|#db2210a7-625b-4bb0-9545-56e81bdfe48aGP0|#02a64ecc-8b08-4637-b4c1-74446f866f69;L0|#002a64ecc-8b08-4637-b4c1-74446f866f69|Lecture;GTSet|#f0004912-346b-4cda-81c5-04ab1bb4b34e;GPP|#6e96bd23-dbd4-4d09-9c3e-0aa09c84b566
