Printers

Using Printers at Vermont Law School


  • The VLS Network provides users with access to several network printers.
  • VLS promotes the use of double-sided printing whenever possible.
  • Never change any settings under the General, Details, Printer Settings, or Configuration tabs.
  • For best results, check printer settings in the Windows Printer Control Panel prior to sending a print job to the printer. Check to make sure that the settings are appropriate for the current print job. After the job has printed, CHANGE SETTINGS BACK TO THEIR ORIGINAL SETTINGS.


    • How to set up your computer to print at VLS


    Windows 7

    In Windows Explorer, type \\print1

  • You should be prompted for your VLS login. Type your VLS username with the VLS prefix (vls\vlsusername) and your password.
  • Right click on each printer you wish to connect to, and select Connect.

  • If drivers are needed, they should download and install automatically. But if they don't, click the appropriate link to download the one you need:
    Windows XP and 7 (32 bit)
    Windows XP and 7 (64 bit)
  • A message may pop up asking, “Do you trust this Printer?” Click Install driver to continue.
  • The printer should appear in your available printers list in Devices and Printers.


    • Windows 8

    In Windows Explorer, type \\print1

  • Determine which printer you need.

  • If you need a driver, download it by clicking here.
  • Click on Apple icon and go to System Preferences.
  • Select Print & Scan and click the + icon to add.
  • Click the IP tab and make sure Protocol is set to Line Printer Daemon - LPD
  • Address - PRINT1. (The address will be the same for any printer.)
  • Queue - Enter name exactly as it appears (including underscores) on reference list.
    (It is recommended that Name matches Queue, and Location is either Chase Lab or Library Lab.)
  • Print Using - Canon iR-ADV 6055/6065
