Biography
Professor Joseph Brennan is a Professor of Law and the Vice Dean for Students. He previously served as the Director of the Academic Success Program. Professor Brennan’s teaching currently focuses on Contract law. He teaches in both the Residential and Online Hybrid Juris Doctor programs. He has also taught Bar Exam Skills & Tactics, Foundations of Legal Analysis, Legal Methods, Legal Writing, and Torts. Professor Brennan supervises the Academic Success Program, Associate Dean for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, Office of Student Affairs, and the Registrar’s Office. Career Services Office, 2017-2018 Student Bar Association Faculty Service Award winner.
Professor Brennan began his legal career as a judicial law clerk in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division. Following his clerkship, Professor Brennan was a civil defense litigation attorney in New Jersey. His practice focused on product liability, premises liability, personal injury, complex litigation, employment law, breach of contract, fraud, and claims brought under the Uniform Commercial Code. He practiced in New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.
Professor Brennan received his undergraduate degree in history, cum laude, with minors in biology and philosophy from St. Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated as a member of St. Joseph’s Honors Program. Following undergraduate studies, he served as an AmeriCorps teacher in Philadelphia.
Professor Brennan received his law degree, cum laude, with distinction as a Chancellor’s Scholar and Distinguished Public Interest Scholar, from Seton Hall University School of Law in Newark, New Jersey. While in law school, Professor Brennan was an Academic Support Program Teaching Fellow and Legal Education Opportunities Teaching Fellow. He also designed and taught LSAT preparation courses for the school’s Pre-Legal Program and served as Vice-President of the Student Outreach Society.
