Biography

Amerin L. Aborjaily is an Assistant Professor with the J.D. Externship Program with Vermont Law and Graduate School. The J.D. Externship Program assists students in setting up and completing off-campus apprenticeships for a full semester of academic credit. J.D. Externship Program faculty teach and coach students and their apprenticeship supervisors using online class discussion, written assignments, site visits, individual and group conferences, and frequent communications throughout the semester.

Professor Aborjaily received a BA from Skidmore College in 2006 and a JD from Northeastern University School of Law in 2011. Through Northeastern’s co-operative learning program, Professor Aborjaily completed four full-time apprenticeships for credit across the country, including the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire, Criminal Division; the Alaska Public Defender’s Office in Anchorage, AK; the law firm of Geer, Wissel & Levy in Albuquerque, NM; and the Disability Rights Legal Center at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, CA. Prior to joining Vermont Law and Graduate School in 2023, Professor Aborjaily was an associate at the law firm of Olivarez Madruga, P.C. in Los Angeles, CA, practicing public agency law before moving to Vermont in 2015 to work for the State of Vermont. During her tenure with the State, Professor Aborjaily represented the State in administrative law proceedings relating to labor and employment, health care administration, and health insurance regulation, before moving to the Office of Legislative Counsel to draft laws and testify before the Vermont General Assembly concerning government operations and health care law.
