Biography

Taylor Waters is a seasoned attorney and advocate with over 10 years of experience in animal advocacy and eight years of professional legal expertise. Taylor holds an Animal Law LLM from Lewis and Clark Law School and a Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law, both earned Magna Cum Laude, where her work in emerging areas of law garnered multiple awards, including the Wanda Nash Award from the Michigan State Bar Association’s Animal Law Section.

As the former principal attorney of Waters Legal, LLC, Taylor led efforts to champion animal rights through legal strategic impact litigation. Taylor has also held key positions such as Pro Bono Manager at the Animal Legal Defense Fund  and is currently the Program Lead for AVA International, an international animal advocacy summit series.

An accomplished speaker and writer, Taylor has presented at prestigious conferences such as the Oxford Centre for Animal Ethics Summer School and the Helsinki Animal Law Conference. Taylor’s published works, including contributions to the Journal of Animal and Natural Resource Law, reflect a deep commitment to the intersection of law, ethics, and animal rights.

Currently, Taylor is applying their expertise to new challenges, including a focus on farmed animal advocacy. Taylor’s dedication to justice, strategic thinking, and leadership continues to drive her work in creating a more compassionate world for all beings.
