The Future of Farmland: Passing Agriculture from One Generation to the Next

Vermont Law School’s Food and Agriculture Law Society (FALS) presents The Future of Farmland: Passing Agriculture from One Generation to the Next, a panel of farm attorneys and agriculture service providers that will share their experience and knowledge for farmland succession. Wednesday, October 24, 2018. In Chase Community Center 5:30-8 pm.
Special guests Annette Higby, a Randolph, VT attorney specializing in farmland transfers; Mike Ghia the Vermont Field Agent at Land For Good; and Maria Moreira, Executive Director and Co-Founder of World Farmers in Lancaster, MA will provide a unique perspective for farmers, lawyers, farm advocates, and law students interested in land succession and land access to access new resources and connections on the issue. The panel, moderated by John Echeverria, Professor of Law at Vermont Law School will speak to the heart of farmland succession issue with topics ranging from farmland access for new farmers, farmland preservation, and succession to bridge New England’s farms with the next generation of farmers.
FALS welcomes farmers, attorneys in practice, and the general community to the event. FALS hopes to show how agriculture and the law intersect and help connect farmers with resources and legal counsel for ideas. The event is eligible for 1 CLE Credit for VT attorneys. Everyone is welcome.
