Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) is seeking volunteers and donations for the Nov. 24 free Thanksgiving dinner. This is the 23rd year the event has been held since it began in 1998 at South Royalton House under the direction of Marilyn Labadie. Labadie is a former employee of the Law School who will continue to be involved this year.
In previous years VLGS has delivered and served turkey dinners to approximately 400 people, serving community members from the surrounding towns of Royalton, South Royalton, Sharon, Strafford, Tunbridge, Chelsea, and Bethel.
VLGS looks forward to getting together as a community to share and give back to those who may be alone or in need. The community dinner is free and open to everyone, relying on donations to cover the event costs.
Starting Nov. 16 food donations of squash, cranberry sauce, and turkey stuffing items including loaves of bread, and celery will be accepted at the Vermont Law and Graduate School’s Café located in the Chase Center. Dessert pies and dinner roll donations will be accepted the week of Thanksgiving.
Volunteers are needed to help prep for the dinner starting Monday, Nov. 21 and Tuesday, Nov. 22 after 3:30PM. Please come to the Chase Center if you can volunteer during this time.
On Thursday, Nov. 24 volunteers are welcome on campus to help prepare for the community dinner and drive to deliver meals to those who cannot attend.
