Overview
In partnership with the University of Vermont, VLGS is committed to providing affordable, advanced higher education and seeks to allow students to achieve a Bachelor’s Degree and a Juris Doctor degree in a total of either five of six years. Students complete three years of undergraduate study at UVM, then matriculate at VLGS where they complete two or three years of approved coursework for the JD degree and are enrolled as full-time students.
Requirements
Candidates must have completed a minimum of 30 credit hours in two semesters of full-time study with a minimum GPA of 3.3 and must meet the LSAT requirement. Candidates must have at least one letter of recommendation from a full-time UVM faculty member. They must also complete an essay detailing the reasons for their interest in the study of law and participating in the program.

Application Process
Admission to the program occurs at the end of a student’s firs year at UVM. UMV students may apply for the dual degree program during their sophomore year if they demonstrate they can complete their undergraduate degree requirements by the end of their junior year. Program applications are reviewed twice per year. UVM students should submit their application by October 30 (fall deadline) or April 30 (spring deadline). VLGS agrees to accept any UVM student who meets the qualifications as long as the student completes the VLGS application process no later than March 31 of the junior year.
