Pine Hill Homeowners Cooperative

The Energy Clinic celebrated a major milestone with the Pine Hill Homeowners Cooperative in Conway, New Hampshire, as it commissioned its new community-owned solar array. The 50 KW AC array will provide renewable energy to the electric grid and financial and economic benefits to the coop members through New Hampshire’s Group Net Metering program. The clinic partnered with KW Management, Inc., for the array’s construction and installation.

Funding for the array was supplied by a Renewable Energy Fund Low- and Moderate-Income Community Solar Grant from the New Hampshire Department of Energy (DOE), with support for the clinic provided by Jane’s Trust Foundation.

“Our clinicians have now completed five similar projects thanks to grant funds provided by the New Hampshire Department of Energy,” said LLM clinical fellow Carlson Swafford JD/MELP’20, who leads the Energy Clinic’s Climate Justice Team. “These projects give our students a chance to train in a critical field under experienced supervision and gain expertise in project fundamentals that scale from rooftop solar to offshore wind. Our law and energy policy students wrote the grant application, led educational meetings, secured key permits, and negotiated contracts on behalf of resident-owners and energy consumers, gaining practical experience while moving the needle toward a just energy transition.”
