Don is currently a staff attorney with the South Royalton Legal Clinic serving as the director of the Veterans Legal Assistance Project of Vermont (VLAP). VLAP serves Vermont veterans by providing legal representation in a variety of matters including discharge upgrades, benefits applications, bankruptcy, simple estate planning, and consumer protection. In addition to working at the clinic, Don continues to serve clients through his private practice, Hayes Law, P.C. where he handles real estate and bankruptcy matters for clients all over Vermont. Don graduated from Vermont Law School in 2010. Prior to becoming an attorney, Don was vice president of marketing and product development for a small precision instrument company in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

He currently lives in South Royalton, Vermont, with his wife, Katrina, and his son Oliver. During the summer months Don and his wife coach rowing for people with disabilities on Lake Sunapee in New Hampshire. During the winter, Don is a volunteer ski instructor with New England Healing Sports Association. He’s been involved with adaptive sports for 25 years. He also takes his son skiing every Saturday and looks forward to the day when Oliver beats him down the hill.
