Global Conference on Environmental Taxation

September 24, 2014 @ 9:00 am - September 26, 2014 @ 12:00 am EDT

GCET is the leading global forum for exchanges on the principles and practices of environmental taxation and other market-based instruments relevant for greening of the economy and a more sustainable development. Research presented at the previous fourteen conferences has helped provide a much stronger theoretical and empirical underpinning of the legal, economic and behavioral issues in this area. In line with the tradition, also this year a selection of the best contributions will be published in the prestigious conference proceedings “Critical issues in environmental taxation” from Edward Elgar publishers.

The scientific program for GCET15 will cover issues relating to environmental taxation and emissions trading in an era of climate change. Abstracts and papers can be submitted within a broad range of related topics.

The conference will take place in Eigtveds Pakhus, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, situated at the waterfront of Copenhagen. It is a former storehouse for the Asia trade built in 1748, and today a conference facility of Denmark’s government and state institutions. It is located in the historical center of Copenhagen vis-à-vis the Danish Parliament (‘Borgen’). The venue is easy to reach with metro from Copenhagen airport. Conference hotels are located within walking distance.

The target audience for the 15th GCET is individuals from all parts of the world who are interested in the exchange of ideas, information, and research findings about environmental taxation issues and sustainable economic development, including:

  • Academics from universities and higher education in the fields of law, economics, taxation, accounting, public administration, environmental studies, etc.,
  • Government officials from ministries and departments of finance, taxation, energy, water, environment,  natural resources etc. including from provincial/state/territorial levels,
  • International and Non-Governmental Organization representatives, Tax and Accounting professionals, private sector executives, and experts.
