Hope Is A River: Protecting and Restoring America’s Rivers

America has gone from an era in which every river was seen as something to be dammed, diverted, or destroyed, to a new era of river restoration.  Bob Irvin, President of American Rivers, the nation’s leading conservation group working to protect and restore rivers, will discuss this transformation, telling stories of hope about river protection and restoration as well as the challenges ahead.

 

Bob Irvin is President and CEO of American Rivers, leading its work to protect wild rivers, restore damaged rivers, and conserve clean water for people and nature.  He is an environmental attorney with more than 30 years’ experience as a conservation advocate.  He was a member of the VLS Summer Faculty for two decades, teaching Biodiversity Protection.
