Biography

Spencer Knapp is a nationally recognized health lawyer with a practice spanning five decades. His expertise covers the range of complex matters impacting health providers, including mergers & acquisitions, corporate governance, antitrust, tax, hospital-physician relationships, professional liability, and regulatory compliance. He has particular interest in the pragmatic, professional and ethical components of successful health lawyering in the rapidly shifting health policy environment.

Spencer is currently Senior Counsel of Dinse, PC, a Burlington, Vermont law firm. Prior to rejoining the firm in 2018, he served for 16 years as Senior Vice President and General Counsel of University of Vermont Health Network, an interstate, multi-hospital health system. Before becoming General Counsel, Mr. Knapp served as Managing Partner of the Dinse firm for many years.
Mr. Knapp is a Member of the American Health Lawyers Association and a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. Over many years, he has spoken and written often on health law topics. He holds a JD with high honors from Cornell Law School and a BA cum laude from Trinity College (Hartford).
