Biography

Elizabeth “Lizzie” Lewis is a Senior Associate Attorney at the public interest law firm, Eubanks & Associates, PLLC. She focuses her legal practice on ocean preservation, marine mammal conservation, wildlife and public lands protection, animal welfare, and open government and transparency. Lizzie has won several major victories as lead counsel or co-counsel in federal courts around the country, and has obtained numerous honors, including her selection to the Environmental Law Institute’s Emerging Leaders Initiative.   

Lizzie is also an adjunct professor at American University Washington College of Law (WCL), where she teaches Marine and Coastal Environmental Law and the Program on Environmental and Energy Law Practicum.

Prior to joining Eubanks, Lizzie worked on both domestic and international environmental issues for various non-profit organizations and government agencies. Notably, Lizzie was a Law Fellow and then an Associate Attorney at the public interest law firm, Meyer Glitzenstein & Eubanks LLP from 2017 through 2019, where she focused on environmental and animal welfare litigation. In 2016, she received a Knauss Marine Policy Fellowship, which allowed her to spend a year as the Special Assistant to the Assistant Administrator of NOAA’s Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research. There, she worked directly with the Assistant Administrator to provide strategic and policy advice on a variety of issues within OAR’s portfolio.   

Lizzie received her J.D., summa cum laude, from WCL in 2015, and was elected to the Order of the Coif. She received a B.S. with Honors in Biology, summa cum laude, from Dickinson College in 2010, where she also completed a second major in Russian History and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
