Biography

Gordon N. Merrick is an Adjunct Professor of Law. He was the 2020-2021 Legal Food Hub Fellow for Vermont, working with Vermont Law School’s Center for Agriculture and Food Systems (CAFS) and the Conservation Law Foundation (CLF). Gordon received a JD with honors from Vermont Law School and is continuing to work on the MFALP. He received a Bachelor’s from University of Maine in Political Science and Legal Studies. Prior to attending law school, Gordon wore many hats, working in community and political organizing, farm and service industry jobs, and emergency medicine. While piecing together part-time jobs to make a full-time work week, he grew an understanding of the amount of work individuals at all level of our systems must produce to get by, and this ultimately led him to pursue a law degree. Gordon aims to leverage his legal education to help build a more just food system, from how food is produced to consumed.
