SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt.

The Kevin B. Jones Fund Will Support Next-Gen Clean Energy Leaders

Late Vermont Law and Graduate School professor Kevin Jones’ memory will live on in a new fund supporting the clean energy work he was so passionate about throughout his life.

Jones’ unexpected death on Jan. 29 left a hole in the VLGS community. He was a beloved force for good, on and off campus, and, as director of the school’s Institute for Energy and the Environment, he guided energy students on their paths to being just transition leaders.

“No one knew more about what was needed for a just transition to a clean and sustainable energy future than Kevin. And no one was more dedicated to preparing VLGS students to lead this transition and secure top jobs in every sector of energy and environmental law and policy,” Pat Parenteau, professor of law emeritus at Vermont Law and Graduate School, said of Jones. “He has left a rich legacy of teaching, scholarship and public service that will endure for generations.”

The Kevin B. Jones Fund, with a goal of securing $100,000 in donations from alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends, will support internships, field study course participation, professional development, moot court competition participation and educational travel experiences for students.
