The Center for Agriculture and Food Systems (CAFS) at Vermont Law has developed an online research site for use by anyone interested in sustainable food and agriculture, the most recent step in the center’s mission to provide legal and policy support to citizens who care about how food is grown and distributed in the U.S.
“Farm & Food Legal Resources” is a collection of legal tools tailored to five key audiences served by CAFS: Attorneys and Advocates, Farmers and Ranchers, Food Entrepreneurs, Health Professionals, and Consumers. Topics cover a wide range, from nutrition and genetically engineered foods to alternative energy sources and animal welfare. CAFS has vetted all of the listed resources to ensure that the information contained therein is the most reliable in any given subject area.
The goal of the site, according to its creators, is to provide users with a single access point to find the information they seek—one-stop shopping for food and agriculture research.
“There is extensive work being done to provide legal and policy support to food and agricultural groups,” said CAFS Program Officer Delilah Griswold ’13. “We don’t want to reinvent the wheel where it’s already sufficient, but we want to make these resources as accessible as possible. Farm & Food Legal Resources puts everything at your fingertips.”
Farm & Food Legal Resources may be found online at farmandfoodlaw.org. For more information about the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems at Vermont Law, visit vermontlaw.edu/cafs, follow on Facebook and Twitter, or call 802.831.1230.
