Vermont Law and Graduate School (VLGS) has hired Dave Celone as the new vice president of alumni relations and development. Celone earned his JD from VLGS in 1992. He joins VLGS from his position as director of development and community relations at West Central Behavioral Health in Lebanon, New Hampshire.

“We are delighted to have Dave stepping into this enormously important role at this exciting juncture in the school’s history,” said VLGS President Rodney Smolla. “Dave is joining a leadership team of professionals dedicated to engaging our graduates and encouraging the philanthropy so important to securing the school’s future prosperity.”

A successful fundraiser and philanthropic consultant, Celone brings a wealth of management, marketing, and senior leadership experience within the for-profit and non-profit communities. He served as development director for the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, where he oversaw its world-renowned achievement of a 72% alumni participation rate in giving. Celone was co-director of the Dartmouth College Fund, and he started his career in fundraising at Vermont Law School, now VLGS.

Celone previously owned art galleries in Lyme, New Hampshire, and White River Junction, Vermont. He practiced law in Connecticut and Vermont. He also founded diversity committees for the Town of Thetford Vermont schools, and at Vermont College of Fine Arts. Celone has helped numerous organizations develop and execute successful campaigns, raising visibility and hundreds of millions of dollars for charitable organizations during his career.

In addition to his JD from VLGS, Celone holds a master’s degree in writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts in Montpelier, Vermont and undergraduate degrees in English and accounting from Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut.

“It’s time for all of us to re-join, or join anew in the bold and virtuous strategic vision and mission of this preeminent law and graduate school to help save our world. I am humbled and profoundly honored to serve in this leadership role at my cherished alma mater,” said Celone of his new role.
