SOUTH ROYALTON, Vermont (October 25, 2024)—Vermont Law and Graduate School has announced John Dumville as the recipient of its inaugural Community Champion Award, which recognizes a citizen or citizens for their friendship with and commitment to the school. The award was presented during the school’s Community Day event on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
“Community champions embody the mission and values of VLGS,” said Vice President of Community Engagement and Government Relations Shirley Jefferson. “We had several notable nominations, but John stood out for his positive engagement with our students. He consistently goes above and beyond to provide resources and mentorship, helping them feel welcome in the South Royalton community.”
Dumville has a strong history of community service. A member of the Royalton Selectboard, he also served as Vermont’s historic sites operations chief for 35 years. He has been a longtime landlord providing housing options for VLGS students, and he frequently attends campus and alumni events.
In addition to the award presentation, VLGS Community Day included campus tours, a town hall meeting with Royalton Selectboard members, remarks by Royalton Police Chief Loretta Stalnaker, and presentations by local businesses and rental property managers.
