The Environmental Law Society at Vermont Law School will host "Mountainfilm on Tour," a movie night designed to educate and motivate audiences about global issues, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in Chase Community Center on the VLS campus. The event, open to the public, will feature documentaries that reflect Mountainfilm's mission of exploring cultures, preserving environments, and promoting adventure.
Mountainfilm on Tour is an extension of the Mountainfilm Festival, a four-day event held each Memorial Day weekend in Telluride, Colo. It is part film festival, part ideas summit and part jamboree. Mountainfilm attracts leading independent documentary filmmakers, artists, photographers, conservationists, mountaineers, scientists, journalists, and explorers from around the world.
Each year, Mountainfilm on Tour takes a selection of outstanding films from the Telluride festival on the road to engage audiences who otherwise would not have an opportunity to experience them. Year-round and worldwide, the tour reaches more than 40,000 people on five continents.
Doors for the VLS event will open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets, free for students and $7 for general admittance, can be purchased online at Eventbrite or at the door. Any proceeds from the event will be donated to the New England Grassroots Environment Fund, a nonprofit that supports community-based environmental projects that lead to a more sustainable future.
