About This Class

War against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, targeted killing of terrorist suspects, security implications of climate change, cyber warfare, and NSA spying on Americans' email and phone calls --- these are only a few of the current issues addressed in this course. Lawyers are at the very center of each one. They (and you) will be concerned with international and domestic authorities for the use of military force, intelligence gathering at home and abroad, the detention and interrogation of terrorist suspects, homeland security, espionage, and the protection of sensitive government information. Special emphasis is placed on related civil liberties issues.
