Fellowship Description

The Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE) at Vermont Law School offers a two-year Global Energy LLM Fellowship that we anticipate will become available beginning August 2023. The fellowship offers the opportunity to obtain an LLM degree in energy law from one of the leading energy and environmental law programs in the nation combined with the opportunity to gain practical energy law experience on a variety of policy coordination, research, and educational outreach projects.

The fellow will work closely with faculty, staff and other fellows of the Institute for Energy and the Environment (IEE) to help coordinate and implement the range of institute projects being carried out with JD, MELP and MERL student research associates. The IEE fellow will help supervise and mentor students as they implement projects as well as assist IEE staff in developing new projects.

The fellow will be assigned to a leadership role in one of the IEE's project areas. A description of the current project areas can be found on the Institute for Energy and the Environment projects page. As projects are completed, new projects are added so the projects described are exemplary of typical projects undertaken by the Institute. The fellow may support the efforts of the energy clinic which is focused on assisting local schools, municipalities, and other community organizations in developing sustainable energy projects for their communities. Solar PV or other energy project permitting and contractual experience is preferred. Bar admission or expected passage may be strong advantage.

All fellowship materials should be sent to admiss@vermontlaw.edu and must include a clear reference to the fellowship. Electronic submissions are preferred. If unable to send electronically, please send materials to:
