Will Lowrey

Biography

Will Lowrey is the founder and Legal Counsel for Animal Partisan, a legal advocacy organization focused on challenging unlawful conduct in animal agriculture and research. Prior to his current role, Will served as Legal Counsel for Animal Outlook, a national nonprofit farmed animal protection organization, where he divided his time between civil litigation and undercover investigations.

Will is a 2017 graduate of Vermont Law and Graduate School where he was a Schweitzer Fellow, Social Justice Mission Scholar, Student Ambassador, SPEAK Debate Supervisor, received the Learned Hand Award, Student Pro Bono Award, Advancement of Animal Law Scholarship, and helped lead the Animal Law Society to the National Chapter of the Year Award. Prior to law school, Will worked a lengthy corporate career as a senior process engineer at a large financial corporation and helped run several non-profits focused on a variety of animal issues in his free time. Will received his undergraduate degree in criminal justice from Virginia Commonwealth University.

Will taught the first Animal Law courses at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and the University of St. Thomas School of Law. As part of his work with Animal Partisan, Will spends considerable time mentoring law students interested in the field of animal law. Will resides in rural Virginia where he writes animal-related fiction and serves as one of the resident caretakers for a small sanctuary for formerly farmed animals.
