Ian Montone, JD‘95

Biography

Ian is a Grammy-nominated producer and the founder of the music management company Monotone, Inc. and co-founder of the media and production group LBI Entertainment. Monotone, Inc.’s current and past clients include Jack White, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem, The White Stripes, Foster the People, MIA, The Shins, Still Woozy, Margo Price, The Dixie Chicks, and My Chemical Romance, among others. Under the aegis of LBI Entertainment, Montone, along with his partner Rick Yorn, manages the careers of Jonah Hill and Jamie Foxx. Before founding Monotone, Inc., Montone was a partner at the law firm of Davis, Shapiro, Lewit, Montone & Hayes, LLP, focusing on music and entertainment, and was named a top-rated attorney selected to Rising Stars for 2004 - 2007. Montone serves on the board of Proclaim Justice and the Silver Lake Conservatory of Music. Ian enjoys spending time with family, playing soccer, and supporting Luton Town FC, where he is also a Vice President. Montone graduated from Occidental College (‘89) with a degree in philosophy in Los Angeles and Central Catholic High School (‘85) in Portland, Oregon, where he was elected to the school’s Hall of Fame in 2023.
