SOUTH ROYALTON, Vt.

Roger Pao Brings Leadership Experience in Online Legal Education

Vermont Law and Graduate School has named Roger Pao as the director of its online hybrid JD program.

With an extensive background in online legal education and a commitment to innovative learning methodologies, Pao’s leadership will further strengthen Vermont Law and Graduate School's position as a pioneer in hybrid legal education.

Delivered through a mixture of online classes and in-person residencies, the online hybrid JD offers the same rigorous legal education as the school’s residential JD, but with flexibility for working professionals to earn a law degree from wherever they are rooted.

Pao will shape the program's strategic vision, fostering an enriching and flexible learning environment for students. Working alongside administration and faculty, he will develop new specialty pathways, lead online course design, organize dynamic residencies, spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing student support services and work one-on-one to advise students.

Pao is a graduate of Harvard Law School, where he earned his JD, graduated magna cum laude, and won the prestigious Sears Prize. He also attended Duke University, where he graduated summa cum laude. Pao previously worked in transactional law, held leadership positions at the New England College of Business and Finance and taught at such institutions as Mitchell Hamline University School of Law, Gonzaga University School of Law and Northeastern University School of Law.

"I am honored to lead the online hybrid JD program at Vermont Law and Graduate School," Pao said. "Together with VLGS’ exceptional faculty and staff, I look forward to providing our students with the skills and knowledge they need to make a meaningful impact in their legal careers in a way that fits their lifestyle and needs."

“From the moment I met Roger, I was inspired by his deep experience in and commitment to online legal education and his passion for helping adult learners succeed,” said Beth McCormack, dean of Vermont Law School at VLGS. “Roger's leadership will benefit our program on a daily basis both in and out of the classroom.”
